Frederick's Legacy
Frederick the Great's influence on Prussia and future nations was exemplified by his support of the arts and his strong military leadership, as shown in the Seven Years' War and the War of the Austrian Succession.
Frederick the Great left a substantial mark on Europe by the end of his reign, and rightfully so. Some of Frederick's most outstanding achievements are visible in his support of the arts. Prussia's large treasury allowed him to give patronage to numerous artists and he encouraged other German officials to do so. This led to a leap in Prussian culture and is why Germany is as refined as it is. Frederick wished for his people to view him as a fatherly figure and did what he could to ensure the population enjoyed his reign. This led to a unique style of ruling, as he relied on the love of his people rather than fear. He placed an emphasis on diversity during his reign, which further attributed to his unique style of ruling.
Frederick II also showed his importance through martial leadership. Frederick led the country into a great time of prosperity, one of the greatest it would see. He led the Prussian military to many victories throughout the War of the Austrian Succession, as well as the Seven Years' War. Throughout these two major wars, Frederick demonstrated his competency as an administrator as well as a general. By the end of them, Prussia saw its territory and power increase substantially.
